About Max Strebel

Max Strebel is a commercial and independent filmmaker.  As an independent filmmaker he has directed over a dozen short films and animations that have screened in and won awards at festivals nationwide including the New York City International Film Festival, the San Francisco International Film Festival, the Mill Valley Film Festival, the Santa Fe Film Festival, the Nashville Film Festival among many others.  Max has also shown his work at the De Young Museum and AT&T Ballpark in San Francisco as well as at the Skirball Center in New York where a 70 piece orchestra performed the score to his film.  Max has directed music videos for Tribecastan and duoW and done animation for a documentary on John Coltrane.

As a commercial filmmaker, Max has made videos for The USDA, Serena and Lili, Pivotal Labs, ModCloth, Intel’s Mashery, The Nueva School, Papabubble, TCI, SoundSlates and Equil -- a smart pen sold in the Apple stores. Max has worked at as an editor and graphic artist at post houses including Swordfish San Francisco, One World Communications, Senior Post and Drive80 as well as worked in production at Filbertsteps Productions, Mevio and Big Beach Films, which brought you family classics including Little Miss Sunshine and Away We Go and Safety Not Guaranteed.  Max has also made commercial storyboards for Subway and Vice.

Max Strebel was born and raised in San Francisco, California and graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he majored in Film and Television.  He is a dual citizen of Switzerland and the USA and speaks German fluently.  He currently resides and works in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
